Biker (1)

The Vail area may be best known for winter recreation, but there are also plenty of options for enjoying our gorgeous scenery year-round. Many visitors and locals enjoy biking on Vail’s many bike paths, and Ptarmigan Sports carries a wide range of clothing and gear that can help you get the most out of bike rides of any length.

Top Vail Bike Paths

The mountains of Vail provide a scenic backdrop for dozens of paths for bikers of every skill level, including those that prefer flat paths over biking through mountain terrain. Here are five of the best bike paths in Vail and surrounding areas, many of which come with views of our mountains, rivers, and other scenery.

Vail Pass Bicycle Path

Vail Pass is a 14.2-mile bike path that connects Vail to neighboring Frisco, making it an excellent option for those looking to explore more of what Colorado offers. Many bikers enjoy covering the entire route, but partial rides up or downhill also offer options for riders with different skill levels. Whether you are visiting and want to spend a day checking out a nearby town or have a second home here and want to do some local exploring, the Vail Pass Bike Path is one of our most popular options.

Gore Valley Trail

The Gore Valley Trail gives bikers even more to explore. While most of the Vail area’s bike paths offer scenic mountain and river views, the Gore Valley Trail also passes through several of the area’s villages. This additional feature makes the Gore Valley Trail an excellent fit for bikers looking to get the most out of Colorado’s scenic mountain towns.

North Recreation Path

The North Recreation Path and the rest of the Vail Recreation Path network are strong options for bikers interested in seeing more of Vail in less time. This bike path covers a total of approximately fifteen miles. It consists primarily of paved paths that connect at various points to make it easier for riders to customize their experience by exploring their favorite areas.

Eagle Valley Regional Trail

The Eagle Valley Regional Trail is a segment of a much longer path that crosses the entire state of Colorado. This bike path is a paved 63-mile trail that runs from Vail Pass to Glenwood Canyon. While the Vail Valley portion of this trail is more frequently ridden in shorter stretches, it also provides a popular option for riders that are interested in the challenge of long-distance biking.

Glenwood Canyon Bike Path

This popular paved path runs along the full length of the scenic red rock Glenwood Canyon, and the Colorado River is also visible from parts of the trail. The Glenwood Canyon Bike Path begins near the end of the Eagle Valley Regional Trail. It connects it to Dotsero, making it a popular option for bikers interested in an even longer ride.
